Extremely rare set of twelve 7-piece place settings in Georg Jensen's wonderful Art Deco "Parallel" or "Relief" pattern. Designed in 1931 by Jensen's brother-in-law O. Gundlach-Pedersen, this pattern makes the most of Art Deco geometry and severity. The plain surfaces are relieved only by a series of stepped parallel lines near the ends of the handles. The shapes of the bowls and tines are somewhat elongated to add to the streamlined look. Each piece is stamped with the post-1945 hallmark. This pattern has not been produced since 1976, and is among the most difficult Jensen patterns to find. Each place setting comprises a dinner fork, salad/dessert fork, teaspoon, place spoon, cream soup spoon, dinner knife and butter spreader.Origin: Denmark, 1945-76. Condition: excellent, no monograms. Total Weight: 4,188.00 grams.

A magnificent vintage platinum brooch formed as a floral bouquet featuring three primary blossoms tied at the bottom with a ribbon, and set with a mix of old single cut, old Swiss cut, old European cut, old mine cut, early modern brilliant round cut and French cut diamonds and round brilliant cut sapphires. The center flower features a .83-carat, old mine cut diamond of fancy cognac color and SI2 clarity; surrounded by sapphires. A flower bud is represented just above by a prong-set .34-carat old European cut diamond of fancy light cognac color and VS2 clarity. Leaves are bead-set with mixed cut white diamonds, all in the E-G color range with VS1 to SI2 clarity. Berries are represented by collet-set blue sapphires. The sapphires display P2B zone 30 color (moderate purplish blue) on the Gem Dialogue scale and have VS clarity. The hinged double pinstem is worked in 14K white gold, but the body of the brooch is tested and guaranteed platinum. The range of different diamond cuts in this brooch clearly indicates it was specially made to order for a customer using the diamonds already in her possession. Such commissioned pieces are often not fully hallmarked, hence the lack of a mark for platinum or a maker's mark. The quality of workmanship is superb. The brooch is accompanied by a June 2008 written appraisal (GIA & NAJA) conforming to the above description and assigning a replacement value of $16,500. Origin: America, ca. 1950. Condition: excellent, all original. Size: 2" x 1-1/4". Weight: 16.3 gr. Approximate Total Gemstone Weight: diamond, 1.84 carats (1.17 carats of fancy colored diamonds); sapphire, 2.1 carats.

An exquisite and very fine 18K yellow gold jewel by Henry Dunay, one of the greatest American jewelers of the latter 20th century. The piece comprises a 32" necklace of domed, oval gold links joined by polished arched connectors. The outer surfaces of the links are stippled in a roughly textured finish that contrast nicely with the arched connectors. Two of the links have hidden hinged clasps so that the necklace can be separated into a shorter necklace and a bracelet. Two of the arched connectors are joined together at the midpoint to suspend a detachable pendant inspired by ancient Mayan motifs. The pendant is quite large, but the openwork and geometric approach to the design maintain a sense of lightness. The pendant can also be worn as a brooch. All pieces are signed by Dunay and are marked 18K.The piece is accompanied by a written appraisal (GIA & NAJA) indicating a total replacement value of $34,000. Mr. Dunay, himself, indicated that he recalled making the piece in 1968 or 1969. At that time he did not systematically document his creations, so the jewel has not appeared in published works. He suggested he would charge $34,000 to recreate the piece today. Origin: America, ca. 1968. Condition: excellent, all original. Size: full necklace length, 32" bracelet length, 8-1/2"; shortened necklace length, 23-1/2"; pendant/brooch, 2-11/16" diameter. Weight: 249.09 grams.

Very rare pair of 14K yellow gold, diamond and lapis lazuli cufflinks designed by Erte in the "La Dentelle-State I" pattern. The faces of the cufflinks are cut in a shape that suggests a bird, with lapis lazuli cabochons for eyes. The exposed gold surfaces are engraved and cast in an intricate pattern of geometric bars and swirls to suggest lace, hence the title ("dentelle" is "lace" in French). The appearance is angular and severe--in the Art Deco taste--rather than the softer, frillier appearance of lace. Short bands of bead-set single-cut diamonds finish off the design.Known throughout his career as a costume designer, illustrator and the "Father of Art Deco", Erte began designing jewelry in 1979. At the time of his death in 1990, he had produced just over 300 different designs, most of them were made in rather small limited editions. Only 100 examples of the "La Dentelle-State I" cufflinks were made. The backs are signed "Erte", "CFA 14K", and "11/100". Origin: America, ca. 1980. Condition: excellent. Size: 2-1/8" x 7/8". Weight: 20.25 grams. Approximate Total Gemstone Weight: lapis, 4.8 cts; diamond, .5 ct.

A very fine pair of 18K yellow gold cufflinks by Van Cleef & Arpels. Each cufflink has two faceted baton faces, each collet-set with a band of rectangular cut sapphires. The stones have superbly saturated color and excellent clarity. The faces are joined with solid connectors in white gold that conceal a unique telescoping action. This movement allows the cufflinks to be worn with cuffs of varying thicknesses and makes them easier to put on, as well. Each is fully hallmarked with French “tete d’aigle” for 18K gold and also with Van Cleef & Arpels ‘maker’s mark. Both have the serial number “17664Z”. One cufflink is further marked “Van Cleef & Arpels S.G.D.G. Brevete Déposé 48893”, thus indicating the patent number for the closing mechanism.Origin: France, ca. 1940. Condition: excellent, all original. Size: 11/16” x 5/16”. Weight: 13.5 grams. Approximate Total Gemstone Weight: 4.64 carats.

Superb and extremely rare silverplated cocktail shaker in the "Ile de France" pattern by Meriden Britannia Plate Co. This is one of the most desirable of the high style Art Deco shakers. The ocean liner "Ile de France" was launched in 1926--not as the largest ship afloat, but intentionally as the most elegant ship in the world. This shaker was intended to celebrate that achievement and took its streamlined design elements from the ship itself. The pour spout protrudes from the side of the shaker at an angle and is strongly suggestive of the liner's angled bow. The shaker is severe in its decoration, using only stepped concentric rings to relieve the plain surfaces. The angular handle and cap are carved from strongly figured rosewood. The bottom of the shaker is marked with the pattern name and Meriden's marks.Origin: America, 1927. Condition: excellent, extremely light surface wear to plating and a little bit of roughness are the edges of the pouring spout. Size: 9" tall.

An elegant Art Deco panel-cut crystal perfume bottle, the shoulder adorned with a band of cameo etched floral decoration in green. The style of the decoration is very geometric and provides a handsome contrast with the simple panel cutting. The lip of the bottle is overlaid in green glass to match the decorative band. The bottom is cut in a 24-ray star and the stopper is lapidary cut. The quality of the glass and workmanship suggest Baccarat as a possible maker.Origin: France, ca. 1920. Size: 6-1/4”.

A magnificent sterling silver claret spoon by Dominick & Haff. This example is strikingly decorated in a pattern representing three different varieties of chrystanthemums. The decoration appears to be loosely based on Dominick & Haff's "#10" pattern, though this is much more ornate. The area around the flowers is intricately pierced in the rococo style. The back bears Dominick & Haff's hallmark and the pattern number "32".Claret spoons were produced for a short time at the end of the 19th century. Despite being named for the famous red wine, their function really had nothing to do with wine. Small fruits and berries, perhaps soaked in an alcohol or other liquid, were often served from tall, narrow pitchers of cut glass, porcelain or silver. The long claret spoon was used to remove from the fruit from the pitchers. Today, the spoon could be used to serve sangria as well as various desserts based on fresh fruit. Origin: America, ca. 1980. Condition: nerly mint, period "BBS" monogram. Size: 17" long. Weight: 113.0 grams.
