$325

A very nice pair of Art Nouveau sterling silver cufflinks by Unger Bros. Each of the oval faces features a stylized design reminiscent of pine needles swirling around a central boss. The design shows a clear trend toward a more geometric style that eventually grew into Art Deco, rather than the swirling, feminine lines of classic Art Nouveau. The faces are connected by oval links. The backs are stamped with Unger's hallmark.

Origin: America, ca. 1910. Condition: excellent, all original, sharp detail. Size: 13/16" x 17/32". Weight: 11.0 grams.

$525

An elegant pair of Edwardian cufflinks, the round faces worked in an ornate checkerboard pattern of rose gold and platinum. The surface of each square is engraved with parallel curving lines, and the squares are set in opposition, so the curving lines are constantly interrupted. The use of rose gold with platinum is especially unexpected. The overall design is very sophisticated. The disks are hinged and are attached to old-fashioned barbell-type toggle backs. Tested and guaranteed 14K gold and platinum.

Origin: America, ca. 1920. Condition: excellent, all original. Size: 3/4" diameter. Weight: 9.0 grams.

A classic pair of barbell cufflinks by Tiffany & Co. Each cufflink features one sphere in onyx while the connectors and opposite ends are worked in 14K yellow gold. Tiffany made this particular design in several varieties, including onyx, lapis and malachite. The onyx version is certainly the most versatile. The cufflinks are marked “585” for 14K and “Tiffany & Co.”

Origin: America, ca. 1980. Condition: excellent, all original. Size: 1-3/16”. Weight: 7.5 grams.

A handsome set of two cufflinks and three shirt studs featuring oval cabochon amethysts set simply in silver mountings. The stones are finely colored with even shading and good clarity. The cufflinks have toggle backs and are marked with French import marks, as well as “830”, suggesting that the cufflinks were made in Germany. There is also an unidentified French maker’s mark. The shirt studs have spring mechanisms and are unmarked.

SOLD, PLEASE VISIT US AGAIN!

An interesting pair of 18K yellow and white gold Modernist stirrup cufflinks concealing a hidden erotic element. When being worn, the cufflinks appear to be a standard pair of stirrup style cufflinks, but the mechanical closure is styled as a white gold penis that inserts (rather tightly) into a "slot" on the other side of the cufflink. The exposed surfaces have decorative engraving in a tree-bark pattern found on pieces from the 1950s. Stirrup-style cufflinks were popularized by Cartier in the 1940s, but it's unlikely that they ever envisioned this particular variation. The cufflinks are marked 18K and have the maker's mark "S&F".

Origin: America, ca. 1955. Condition: excellent. Size: 1" x 1". Weight: 24.0 grams.
