A wonderful pair of Art Deco 14K gold cufflinks by Carrington. The rectangular faces are fashioned in a sophisticated engraved pattern of radiating diamond-shapes in contrasting shades of yellow and rose gold. The faces appear to be woven, but the pattern is actually achieved entirely through the use of precise engraving. The faces are joined by solid connectors, and are hallmarked by Carrington.

Origin: America, ca. 1920. Condition: excellent. Size: 5/8” x 15/32” (16 x 12mm). Weight: 11.3 grams.

An interesting pair of vintage 14K yellow and white gold cufflinks set with blue sapphires. The square white gold faces, with canted corners, are worked in an angular grooved pattern and overlaid with yellow gold appliques in a "Z" shape. The overall effect is reminiscent of the "Superman" logo. The center of each face is channel-set with a rectangular step-cut natural sapphire of dark, strongly saturated violetish-blue color. The connectors are hinged, so the cufflinks are comfortable to wear. The connectors are marked "14K" and "585".

Origin: America, ca. 1950. Condition: excellent, all original. Size: 3/4" x 3/4". Weight: 11.7 grams. Approximate Total Sapphire Weight: .5 carat.

A heavy pair of 18K yellow gold cufflinks, the rectangular faces decorated with parallel line engraving. Each face is channel-set with a square step-cut blue sapphire of fine color. The toggle backs are decorated with matching line engraving. The toggles and connectors are marked for 18K gold, and are also marked “Industria Argentina”.

A nice pair of late Victorian cufflinks in 14K yellow gold by Larter. The faces are carved in a concave round shape from mother of pearl and are centered with small old round cut diamonds bead-set in gold squares. The carved faces make nice use of the contrasting matte finish around the edges and the iridescent surface in the middle of the rounds. The small 1-point diamonds add a nice bit of understated sparkle. The faces are joined by solid curved connectors to “bean backs”. The connectors are marked with Larter’s 14K hallmark.

A very nice pair of Edwardian cufflinks, the oval faces featuring oval cabochons of green jadeite surrounded by beaded 14K yellow gold borders. The jade has fine bright green coloring with good translucency and light to moderate mottling. The jade has been tested and is Type A (without dye or polymer impregnation). The faces are connected with chains to baton backs with spherical terminals. The backs of the faces are indistinctly hallmarked with a maker’s mark. Tested and guaranteed 14K.

Ca. 1910. Condition: excellent. Size: 11/16” x 1/2" (18 x 13.5 mm). Weight: 7.2 grams. Approximate Total Jadeite Weight: .88 ct.

The stones are cut high so they stand away from the cuff for maximum impact when being worn The bright periwinkle blue stones are simply set in gold collets joined by removable connectors. The mountings are fully hallmarked with French “tete d’aigle” hallmarks for 18K gold and with an unidentified maker’s mark “L & C”.

An attractive pair of late Art Deco or early Modernist double-faced cufflinks, each face set with a member of the quartz family of gemstones. The stones are faceted in an unusual octagonal step cut and are enclosed in simple silver collet settings made to look like additional crown facets. The gems are amethyst, light citrine, smoky quartz and a very dark citrine with strong red overtones. The faces are joined by chains. The backs of the faces are stamped “830” for the silver content and have an unidentified maker’s mark “FS”.

Origin: Scandinavia, probably Norway, ca. 1930. Condition: excellent. Size: 17/32” x 17/32”. Weight: 10.0 grams. Approximate Total Gemstone Weight: 11.56 carats.

A heavy pair of sterling silver cufflinks in an abstract modernist design. The studio was founded in Georgetown, Colorado by Scandinavian immigrants Stig and Astrid Gusterman in 1950. The cufflinks are entirely handmade and are signed with the mark used until 1964.
