A classic pair of 14K yellow and white gold cufflinks set with diamonds by Larter for Tiffany & Co. The rectangular faces are engraved with parallel lines surrounding center reserves worked in white gold and bead-set with round cut diamonds. The white gold accents the diamonds nicely and brings out their good color against the yellow gold. The backs are marked by both Tiffany and Larter. Tiffany contracted with several higher-end makers such as Larter to manufacture much of their men’s jewelry during the mid-20th century.Origin: America, ca. 1950. Condition: excellent, all original. Size: 23/32” x 1/2”. Weight: 11.2 grams. Approximate Total Diamond Weight: .64 ct.

A very attractive pair of Retro cufflinks fashioned in 14K rose gold. Each round face is collet-set with a large round mixed-cut synthetic ruby. Synthetic rubies were particularly popular in the 1940s when rubies from war-torn Southeast Asia were difficult to get. Many of the greatest jewelry houses such as Tiffany and Cartier used synthetic stones in some pieces. The reddish ton of both the rubies and the gold is very complimentary. The round faces are connected with chains to torpedo backs. Tested and guaranteed 14K.Origin: America, ca. 1940. Condition: excellent. Size: 5/8” diameter. Weight: 5.9 grams. Approximate Total Gemstone Weight: 4.88 carats.

An extraordinarily good set of cufflinks and three shirt studs by Larter, worked in 14K yellow gold and platinum. The round faces feature a border of foliate-engraved platinum circling around black mother of pearl disks centered with small pearls. The use of black mother of pearl is very uncommon, but especially so in this case where the faces are engraved with in a geometric starburst motif. The engraving combines with the natural luster of the material to create a very handsome flash of spectral colors. The seed pearls are of very good quality and provide a nice contrast to their dark surroundings. The backs are marked 14K and are hallmarked by Larter.Origin: America, ca. 1910. Condition: excellent. Size: cufflinks, 9/16” diameter; studs, 11/32” diameter. Weight: 12.1 grams.

A very heavy pair of 18K yellow gold stirrup cufflinks retailed by famed New York jeweler Olga Tritt. Stirrup or “étrillé” cufflinks were popularized by Cartier in the 1940s and have appeared in many variations since. This pair is unusual because of the width of the gold mesh and their relative weightiness. The closing mechanism is a bit more decorative than most, even though it can’t be seen when the cufflinks are in place. The mechanism is marked with a French jeweler’s mark indicating 18K. The cufflinks are presented in their original box, the inside of the lid imprinted with Olga Tritt’s logo and Park Avenue address.Origin: France, ca. 1970. Condition: excellent. Size: 1” x 7/8” x 5/16” wide. Weight: 25.0 grams.

Very handsome 18K yellow gold and steel cable cufflinks by one of the most important high-end contemporary jewelry designers, Philippe Charriol. Charriol rose to prominence working for Cartier before starting his own boutique in 1983. The “Celtic” line was Charriol’s first design, and the he updates it every few years. These cufflinks are a newer variation of the original “Celtic” design (the front faces of the original design had two steel cables separated by a gold bar, while this pair has one cable flanked on either side by a gold bar). The toggle backs allow the cufflinks to be inserted and worn comfortably. The connectors are stamped with Charriol’s hallmark and are marked “750” for 18K.Origin: Switzerland, ca 2000. Condition: excellent. Size: front faces, 3/4" x 5/16”. Weight: 10.6 grams.
