An attractive pair of vintage 14K yellow gold cufflinks, the faces set with 19x13mm oval cabochons of jade with gold borders worked in a bamboo pattern. The bamboo makes for an attractive setting and reinforces the Asian origin of the jadeite. The jade cabochons are translucent and are color-graded at medium-light, slightly grayish, yellowish-green (yG4/3) with lighter mottling. The torpedo backs are hinged. Marked “585” and “14K” and also with an unidentified maker’s mark “TYL”.

Origin: America, ca. 1970. Condition: excellent. Size: 13/16” x 21/32”. Weight: 9.8 grams.

A nice pair of Edwardian doubled-sided 14K yellow gold cufflinks, the faces decorated in a combination of matte reserves flanked by polished foliate plaques. The design hints are the arrival of Art Deco. The “bowtie” connectors are decorated, as well, and are marked “14K”.

A wonderfully witty 14K gold tie bar in the form of a snow ski by Tiffany & Co. As expected of a mid-century Tiffany design, the workmanship is very finely detailed and executed right down to the details of the bindings. The back is engraved with a period three-letter monogram “WLT” and is also marked “14K Tiffany & Co.”.

The classic design features engraved lines arranged in a sunburst pattern emanating from the gypsy-set sapphire at one end. The sapphire is graded as medium strong very slightly breenish blue (vslgB 5/5), very good cut and Type II eye-clean clarity. The back is marked by Tiffany & Co. and also “14K”.

An attractive pair of Art Nouveau sterling silver cufflinks set with dyed green chalcedony cabochons. The faces are shaped somewhat like old-fashioned artists palettes, but have swirling whiplash curves typical of Art Nouveau designs. The bright bluish-green 5mm chalcedony cabochons contrast very nicely with the silver surfaces. The faces are connected by chains to torpedo backs. Tested and guaranteed silver.

A fine pair of 9K yellow gold cufflinks in the form of coiled snaked by Deakin & Francis, England’s leading cufflink designer. Each of the finely detailed snakes is completed with a pair of small ruby eyes. Snakes have been an important motif in English jewelry since Georgian times. They were often used to represent eternal love. The toggle backs are fully hallmarked for Deakin & Francis, and bear the date mark for 1990.

Of the thousands of cufflinks we’ve handled over the years, this is the first pair of Art Nouveau bean-back cufflinks we’ve ever seen that have a matching design worked on both the primary face and the bean back. The 14K yellow gold links are worked with a repousse design of a maiden wearing an ornate headdress filled with the scrolls and whiplash curves typical of Art Nouveau design. The connectors are hallmarked by Krementz and are marked “14K”.

Origin: America, ca. 1900. Condition: excellent, all original, sharp details. Size: large faces, 3/4” x 9/16; small faces, 1/2” x 3/8”. Weight: 5.2 grams.
