A dramatic 18K white gold ring set with diamonds and amethyst by Gucci. The designer's "Horsebit Cocktail Ring" is one of the best of Gucci's contemporary jewerly collection. The ring features a large rectangular checkerboard-cut amethyst held in place at each corner with diamond-set prongs in a horsebit motif. The horsebits arch downward toward the shank, itself encrusted with pave-set round cut diamonds. Gucci's attention to detail is evident in the construction. Some of the diamonds, for instance, are set underneath the amethyst where nobody could possible see them--but the wearer knows they're there! The amethyst is graded at medium, strongly saturated, purple color; good cut; very good proportions; excellent finish; and eye-clean clarity. The diamonds are estimated at G/H color with VS1 clarity. The inside of the shank is marked with appropriate Italian gold hallmarks and Gucci's jeweler's hallmark. This ring is currently available from Gucci at a retail price of $7,950.Origin: Italy, ca. 2010. Condition: excellent, all original. A very fine and heavy vintage 14K yellow gold necklace by Tiffany & Co. The timeless braided design is enhanced by the gradual tapering of width from the center toward the clasp. The flat braided construction allows the necklace to lie flat against the throat. This design has been reinvented several times over the years, but this piece dates from the 1950s. The clasp is marked "Tiffany & Co." and "14K".Origin: America, ca. 1955. Condition: excellent, all original. Size: 16-1/4" long; 3/8" wide at center. Weight: 33.0 grams.

A very attractive pair of vintage 18K yellow gold star earrings by Tiffany & Co. The stars are slightly pulled out of shape, so the design has a sense of movement, and the legs are slightly faceted for a little extra shine. The earrings have Omega backs and the original posts, which could be removed for wear as clips. A nice vintage tie bar in a bamboo pattern by Tiffany & Co. The bar is worked in 14K yellow gold, and each end features a blue sapphire cabochon collet set in platinum. The small amount of platinum contrasts nicely with the deep blue of the sapphires. The bamboo design was reworked in the 1960's and became one of Tiffany's most successful sterling silver flatware designs. Its use in jewelry, however, is uncommon. The relatively short length works perfectly with the narrow width of today's ties. The back is marked "Tiffany & Co. 14K."Origin: America, ca. 1945. Condition: excellent. Size: 1-15/16" long. An excellent multigem "Sputnik" ring in the style of H. Stern. Stern, the world's largest dealer in colored gemstones, created this design in the 1950's to showcase the variety of colored stones available from its Brazilian mines. This particular ring has a very brightly colored selection of stones including dark and light green tourmaline, pink tourmaline, amethyst, citrine, spessartite garnet, almandite garnet and aquamarine. The stones are collet-set above the yellow gold dome in a way that simulated the appearance of Russia's Sputnik satellite. The shank is marked "750" for 18K gold.Origin: Brazil, ca. 1960. A marvelous 19th century French 18K yellow gold double locket, the covers worked in carved rock crystal and lapis lazuli. The front cover features a plaque of rock crystal with lapidary cutting at the edges and tiny intaglio engraved flowers across the face. The other side features a large oval plaque of lapis lazuli, very nicely marked with bits of sparkling pyrite. Both stones are set in a chased gold border engraved with star designs. The interior of the locket has a secondary cover, so the locket can accomodate several different portraits, or perhaps a lock of hair in addition to a portrait. Either the clear or blue side can be worn on the outside. The bail is marked with French "tete d'aigle hallmarks" for 18K gold, and have an unidentified maker's mark.Origin: France, ca. 1860. A beautiful and very heavy 18K yellow gold bracelet set with blue sapphires by Tiffany & Co. Each link is designed as a pair of ropetwist arches joined by a prong-set round sapphire. The links are hinged, so the bracelet is flexible and comfortable to wear. The sapphires are medium dark blue with moderately strong saturation, and show no indications of heat treatment. A stunning platinum and 18K yellow gold eternity band set with diamonds in the "Estelle" design by Van Cleef & Arpels. These rings are made only by special order, and the wait time is a minimum of three months. The classic design is named for Estelle Arpels whose 1896 marriage to Alfred Van Cleef gave rise to the luxury jewelry house. The 10-point brilliant cut round diamonds are bead-set in a platinum band flanked on either side by a beaded yellow gold edge. As expected of VCA, the diamonds are of superb quality, estimated at F color, VVS2 clarity. The eternity band design is a classic and can be worn as a wedding ring or simply as a designer ring. The interior of the band is signed "VCA NY" and has the serial number "5V263.6VCA quotes a price for Estelle rings only at the time of order, and the price fluctuates depending upon the carat weight , which in turn fluctuates based on the size of the ring and client's wishes. The Estelle ring set with slightly less than 1.0 carats last retailed at $6,500. A 2-carat would be roughly in the $12,000 range. Origin: America, ca. 1990. Condition: excellent. Finger Size: 7-3/4. The 4.11 millimeter pearls have white body color with slight rose overtones, and the luster and surface quality are excellent. Overall, the pearls are estimated at AA quality.
