A very fine and rare Meiji Japanese brooch worked in silver, gold and shakudo. The brooch depicts a vase or censer to one side overflowing with dozens of incredibly detailed chrysanthemums. The pin is principally worked in silver, with gold highlights on the flowers and shakudo or shibuichi on the vase. The workmanship is of the very finest quality and shows the hand of a master. The silver plaque on the back is perfectly fitted to the front and is decorated with an elegant inlaid floral and geometric pattern. The backing is original and is not a conversion. It appears to have been a buckle and then later converted to a brooch with the addition of a pinstem and clasp. The edge of the brooch is signed, but the maker is unknown to us. Origin: Japan, ca. 1880. Condition: excellent, sharp detail. Size: 2-15/16" x 1-1/8". Weight: 37.5 grams.

A very pretty pair of sterling silver earrings in the shape of pansies. The petals are beautifully enameled in realistic shades of violet and yellow. The basse taille engraved silver underneath the translucent enamel suggests the silky, velvety texture of the petals. The backs retain the original screwbacks marked “Sterling”. Origin: America, ca. 1940. Condition: excellent, no enamel damage, all original. Size: 3/4" x 3/4". Weight: 6.5 grams.

Lovely Art Nouveau sterling silver bar pin comprised of three maidens with flowing hair. Each of the faces is cast and is solid. Each is marked "Sterling", as is the c-clasp fastener. Origin: America, circa 1890. Condition: excellent, all original. Size: 1-11/16" x 9/16". Weight: 6.0 grams.
