A very nice Art Deco scarab bracelet set in silver. Three glass scarabs alternate with pierced silver sunbursts set with marcasites. The sparkle of the marcasites is a nice foil for the heaviness of the scarabs. Scarab jewelry became popular after the discovery of King Tut’s tomb in the 1920s. The back is marked “Sterling”.
Origin: America, ca. 1930. Condition: excellent. Size: 7-1/4” long.
Pretty brooch fashioned from coral carved into a bouquet of roses and set in a silver fitting. The carving is very delicately worked and makes the most of the coral’s natural variations of color. The central full-blown rose is flanked by a pair of buds and foliage. Brooches of this type, often made from older pieces of carved Chinese coral were quite popular in the late Edwardian and early Art Deco periods. The back is marked “Silver” and retains the original clasp and pinstem.
Origin: China or Japan, ca. 1930. Condition: excellent, all original. Size: 1-5/8” x 3/4".
