Victorian 14K Enamel Diamond Honeymoon Brooch
Very nice Victorian 14K gold honeymoon pin featuring an enameled flower superimposed over a crescent moon. The flower is delicately enameled in translucent shades of yellow, white and pink, and centered with an old mine-cut diamond. The exposed areas of gold have the bloomed finish often found on Art Nouveau jewels. In the Victorian language of flowers, the combination of a flower and a crescent moon signified "honeymoon". These pins were often given by grooms to their brides on the honeymoon night. The back of the pin retains the original pinstem and clasp, marked "14K" and with an unidentified jeweler's mark.

America (probably Newark), circa 1900. Condition: excellent, all original, no enamel damage. Size: 1-1/16" x 5/8". Weight: 3.0 grams.
