Very nice Napoleon III triple-strand coral bead bracelet with a lovely vermeil clasp. The clasp is delicately engraved in a floral pattern. The coral beads are faceted and have nice, uniform coloring. Strands of coral beads were thought by Victorians to ward off evil spirits, and were often given as gifts for babies. The gilding of the clasp has faded to a soft lemony shade. The clasp is hallmarked with the French "tete de sanglier" silver mark. There is also an unidentified jeweler's mark. Origin: France, circa 1850. Condition: excellent, all original. Size: 6-3/16" long; clasp, 9/16" wide. |
