Lovely 3-carat buff-cut amethyst set in a 10 karat white gold filigree mounting. The setting holds the stone up high so the faceted bottom of the stone is adequately reflected through the smooth dome-shaped top. This cutting treatment was popular in the late Victorian and early Edwardian periods, but is rarely found nowadays. The shank is marked "10K". Origin: American, circa 1900. Condition: excellent, the stone has a few minor scratches on the top surface (common on smooth-surface stones) that do not detract from the appearace. Size: 5-3/4. Weight: 3 carats. |
