Extremely fine Victorian 14K yellow gold mesh bracelet featuring five cameos carved from onyx. The five cameos represent four classically-dressed maidens surrounding a young man, also in Grecian attire. The cameos are very nicely carved with good detail. The male cameo also forms the box clasp so that the clasp is invisible when the bracelet is being worn. The cameos are mounted in simple milligrained settings joined by links. The cameos are connected to a heavy, high-quality gold mesh that forms the rest of the bracelet. The gold has a slightly rosy tint that nicely contrasts with the black and white cameos. The bracelet retains its original safety chain. The clasp is marked “14K”. Origin: America, circa 1890. Condition: excellent, one cameo may have a tiny roughness to the tip of the nose, but it may also be simply the way it was carved, all original. Size: 7-5/8” long; 13/16” wide. Weight: 34.5 grams. |
