Elegant circle brooch in 14K gold accented with iridescent lavender, peach and cream enamels. The floral pattern probably represents an orchid viewed from the back, but resembles the shape of gingko leaves. This is a nice example of how a typical Victorian form—the circle brooch—was adapted to the more modern Art Nouveau style. The back retains the original pinstem and c-clasp, marked “14K”. Origin: America, ca. 1900. Condition: excellent, all original. Size: 15/16” diameter. Weight: 3.5 grams. |
