A very handsome pair of 18K yellow gold cufflinks in the mechanical stirrup style popularized by Cartier around 1950. The hinged bar opens to allow the cufflinks to be put through the cuff and then flip down to lock in place. Only the pierced ropetwist u-shaped portion is visible when being worn. The cufflinks are marked with French “tete d’aigle” hallmarks for 18K gold, have the appropriate bigornes, and the unidentified maker’s mark “AC” in a lozenge with a shepherd’s crook. Origin: France, ca. 1960. Condition: excellent. Size: 13/16” x 1”. Weight: 12.0 grams. |
