Elegant classically-styled sterling silver tastevin by France’s ultimate purveyor of luxury goods—Cartier. Tastevins are used by sommeliers and cellar masters to examine wine for quality. The taster is traditionally shaped, with a domed bottom and curving sides decorated with large and small bulls-eyes and tapered gadrooning. The shape allows the color of the wine to be fully appreciated as the silver glistens through the liquid, the curving sides helps to concentrate the wine’s aroma, and the wide mouth allows the bouquet to develop quickly from just a small amount of wine. The lip is appropriately hallmarked with the maker’s mark as well as with the “tęte de mercure” export mark. The bottom is marked “Cartier Inc./Made in France”. Origin: France, ca. 1980. Condition: excellent, no dings, no monogram. Size: 3-5/16” diameter (not including handle). Weight: 78.0 grams. |
