A classic Retro Moderne floral brooch worked in a combination of 14K yellow and rose gold, and set with colorful gemstones. The flower, in the form of a hibiscus, is centered by a prong-set round brilliant-cut amethyst and is flanked by leaves and tiny stems set with round brilliant-cut rubies. The flower rests on a rose gold bar that nicely picks up the pinkish hues of the rubies. The back retains the original pinstem and safety clasp, and is hallmarked by A.J. Hedges, one of the best of the Newark jewelers. Origin: America, ca. 1935. Condition: excellent, all original. Size: 1-31/32” x 1”. Weight: 9.0 grams.
