Fabulous early Victorian brooch in 18K yellow gold, set with coral and diamonds. The oval pin is framed in a pierced border created by overlapping arches, the intersections enhanced with applied gold beads. The center features a dome of turquoise enamel set in an ornate Moorish-style motif with oval angelskin coral cabochons interspersed with small rose-cut diamonds. The color contrast between the pale pink coral and the vivid turquoise enamel, and the subtle sparkle of the diamonds against the slightly matte finish of the gold is stunning. The back retains the original extended pinstem, c-clasp, and ring for attaching a safety pin. Tested and guaranteed 18K gold. Origin: probably England, ca. 1850. Condition: excellent, no enamel damage, all original. Size: 1-9/16” x 1-5/16”. Weight: 14.5 grams. |
