A fantastic Art Nouveau 14K yellow gold stick pin in the form of a honey bee. The body is set with a cabochon ruby and emerald, while the tail section is formed from a baroque natural pearl. The eyes are small collet-set cabochon rubies and one pair of wings is bead-set with old European cut emeralds. The other pair of wings are covered in a rich red basse-taille translucent enamel that allows the engraved veining of the wing to show through. The gemstones have fine color and the pearl has excellent luster. The pinstem is spiral engraved. Tested and guaranteed 14K gold. Origin: America, ca. 1890. Condition: excellent, all original. Size: overall length, 2-9/16”; head, 1-1/8” x 1-1/16”. Weight: 5.0 grams. Approximate Total Gemstone Weight: ruby, .63 carat; emerald, .45 carat. |
