An outstanding French Art Deco silverplated cocktail shaker in the form of a champagne bottle by Barra. The bottle’s label is entitled “Recettes de Cocktails” and details (in French) the instructions for making a Manhattan, Side Car, Bronx, Alexandra, Dubonnet, Dry Martini and Rose. The bottle opens at the shoulder for adding ingredients, and the foiled stopper is removed to reveal the strainer. This is a very rare shaker. The bottom is marked with hallmarks for Barra, a leading Parisian silversmith in the early 20th century. Origin: France, ca. 1925. Condition: excellent, fine plating, two small dings on the side and normal scratching to the strainer cap. Size: 11” tall. |
