Stunning vintage 18K yellow gold brooch and matching earrings set with round brilliant-cut diamonds. The spiky blossoms, reminiscent of chrysanthemums, are arranged in an inverted pyramid shape. The quality of workmanship and materials is superb. The brooch is heavy and the diamonds are estimated at H color, VVS2 clarity. The matching earrings are of equal quality and retain the original omega clips. Posts could be added easily for wear with pierced ears. Each piece is marked 18K and has an unidentified maker’s mark (a script “H”). We have handled pieces by this maker in the past, and they are always of the very finest quality. We know that the maker supplied Tiffany & Co. with some of their pieces, and we currently have a matching brooch set with rubies and diamonds bearing the Tiffany hallmark. All the major jewelers such as Tiffany, Cartier, and Van Cleef & Arpels contracted with anonymous workshops to make many of their pieces. It’s certainly possible that the maker of this set supplied some of these other retailers, as well as Tiffany. Origin: America, ca. 1955. Condition: excellent, all original. Size: brooch, 1-3/4” x 1-1/2”; earrings, 1-1/4” x 7/8”. Weight: brooch, 22.0 grams; earrings, 12.5 grams. Approximate Total Diamond Weight: brooch, 1.03 carats; earrings, .52 carats. |
