Fine and elegant transitional Art Deco sterling silver cocktail shaker by Shiebler. The undulating profile of the shaker terminates in the double pouring spout. The shaker opens at the shoulder for adding ingredients, but the strainer mechanism is activated by turning the pouring spout. The shape has the curvy lines of Art Nouveau, but the surfaces are unadorned, so the shaker begins to take on the more streamlined Art Deco aesthetic. The bottom is hallmarked by Shiebler and also has the retailer's mark for Black, Starr & Frost. Origin: America, ca. 1920. Condition: excellent, two pinpoint dings visible only in strong, raking light. Size: 8" tall. Weight: 304.0 grams. |
