A nice Victorian 14K yellow gold locket, the cover decorated with the bust of a stag deer or bull elk. A single 4-point old mine cut diamond is enclosed within the arc of the large antlers. The creature is finely detailed with a thick, furry neck and even fur visible on the inside of the ears. The front edge of the locket is surrounded by a beaded border. The gold surfaces are slightly matte finished, as is typical of many pieces from this period. The back of the locket is plain and has never been monogrammed. The interior retains both original glass coverings and gold frames. Tested and guaranteed 14K. Origin: America, ca. 1890. Condition: excellent, all original, very slight surface wear to back, front has very sharp detail. Size: 1-1/8” diameter. Weight: 8.0 grams. |
