A lovely Victorian locket worked in 14K yellow gold, the cover set with rubies and diamonds. The locket is centered by a 6-pt old mine cut diamond in a star setting, the star rays extending outward toward the alternating round cut diamonds and rubies bead-set in engraved squares. The geometrical arrangement is very pleasing. The locket is suspended from a button-shaped bale extender centered with a star-set old mine cut 8-pt diamond. The gemstones are of very good quality, with bright color and nice clarity. The back of the extender has a period engraved monogram “BL” and the back of the locket has a period engraved monogram “JCL”. The interior of the locket retains its original frame and glass insert. Origin: America, ca. 1900. Condition: excellent, no dings. Size: locket, 1-1/16” diameter; 1-3/4” overall length. Weight: 10.0 grams.
