A delightful 18K yellow gold giraffe charm or pendant by the Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co. of London. This company was one of the most famous late Victorian and Edwardian jewelers, being appointed as a purveyor to the king. The charm is nicely detailed and shows the giraffe in a standing position with its tall neck outstretched. Certainly, giraffes were still considered unusual animals at the time, and might have been made as either a quirky pendant/charm or as a piece of jewelry for a child. The charm is presented in its original velvet- and silk-lined fitted box, the lid embossed with the Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co.'s Royal Warrant. Tested and guaranteed 18K. Origin: England, ca. 1910. Condition: excellent. Size: 1" long. Weight: 4.2 grams. |
