A very attractive pair of Retro cufflinks fashioned in 14K rose gold. Each round face is collet-set with a large round mixed-cut synthetic ruby. Synthetic rubies were particularly popular in the 1940s when rubies from war-torn Southeast Asia were difficult to get. Many of the greatest jewelry houses such as Tiffany and Cartier used synthetic stones in some pieces. The reddish ton of both the rubies and the gold is very complimentary. The round faces are connected with chains to torpedo backs. Tested and guaranteed 14K. Origin: America, ca. 1940. Condition: excellent. Size: 5/8” diameter. Weight: 5.9 grams.
