Three coin silver tablespoons with downturned fiddleback handles. The bowls are nicely pointed and are remarkably even. The handles have lovely period monogram “EVB”. The backs are stamped “N. Matson”. Newell Matson was born in Painesville, Ohio in 1815. He moved to Owego, NY in 1845, and later to Milwaukee, WI. The design of these spoons would indicate they were made before his move to New York. Origin: America, circa 1830s. Condition: excellent, no dings or deep scratches, minimal wear. Size: 8-5/8” long. Weight: 45.5 grams each. |
