An attractive pair of late Art Deco or early Modernist double-faced cufflinks, each face set with a member of the quartz family of gemstones. The stones are faceted in an unusual octagonal step cut and are enclosed in simple silver collet settings made to look like additional crown facets. The gems are amethyst, light citrine, smoky quartz and a very dark citrine with strong red overtones. The faces are joined by chains. The backs of the faces are stamped “830” for the silver content and have an unidentified maker’s mark “FS”. Origin: Scandinavia, probably Norway, ca. 1930. Condition: excellent. Size: 17/32” x 17/32”. Weight: 10.0 grams. Approximate Total Gemstone Weight: 11.56 carats. |
