An interesting pair of vintage 14K yellow and white gold cufflinks set with blue sapphires. The square white gold faces, with canted corners, are worked in an angular grooved pattern and overlaid with yellow gold appliques in a "Z" shape. The overall effect is reminiscent of the "Superman" logo. The center of each face is channel-set with a rectangular step-cut natural sapphire of dark, strongly saturated violetish-blue color. The connectors are hinged, so the cufflinks are comfortable to wear. The connectors are marked "14K" and "585". Origin: America, ca. 1950. Condition: excellent, all original. Size: 3/4" x 3/4".
