A superb pair of Art Deco 18K yellow gold cufflinks, the front faces decorated with champleve translucent red and opaque black enamels around central reserves of engine-turned engraving in a herringbone pattern. The geometric design of the enamel work is distinctively Art Deco. The red enamel is built up in a thick application to create the appearance of three-dimensional jewels. The backs are designed as faceted batons with tapered ends. The faces are connected by removable connectors. The cufflinks bear multiple 18K import marks for various European countries-Austria, France & England. Origin: Europe, ca. 1920. Condition: excellent, no enamel damage. Size: 5/8" x 3/8". Weight: 6.2 grams. |
