A very fine set of 12 Victorian or Art Nouveau sterling silver dessert and ice cream spoons by Wallace & Sons. The bowl of each spoon is fashioned as a full-blown wild rose blossom, while the stem is formed from its winding vine. The handle is enhanced with deeply veined leaves and a pair of spent rose hips. The detail and workmanship is superb. A design of this sort certainly was only made as a special dessert service and was not intended to match the larger dinner service. The back of each spoon is marked with one of the earlier Wallace hallmarks. Origin: America, ca. 1910. Condition: excellent, sharp detail. Size: 4-5/8" long. Weight: 126.2 grams. |
